Notes from the trenches: The House on Fortune Street

Hello again. My girlfriend went out to see the Sex and the City Movie tonight with two of her friends. I’m sure many other groups of ladies have done the same since it’s come out. But I’m here to talk about literature. And, as I sneak a peek at the Sunday book reviews, I’m thinking that it can’t be a coincidence that the Times reviewed Margot Livesey’s The House on Fortune Street so soon after the premier of this movie about single, sexually liberated women. The review is interesting and raises some really great questions to keep in mind as you approach the book. There is also a link to the first chapter of the book, so you can decide whether you want to shell out the 24 bucks or check it out of the library.

Have a good weekend!
